It might be really hot outside but you have to come out sometime…..right? Here are some Ahwatukee brunch spots that are worth the adventure out into the triple digits.
4740 Warner Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85044
Tucked away on the corner of Warner Road and 48th Street sits Hillside. Open morning and night, Hillside is easily a local favorite and the place to be. Inside you will find a place full of eclectic Arizona-inspired décor with unique touches on every wall. And if the weather permits, you can dine on the outdoor patio shaded by nearby Palo Verde trees. On the weekends there is typically a short wait for brunch. The ambiance of Hillside is always exciting, but it is the food that sets it apart. The breakfast menu includes pancake dishes, breakfast burritos, omelets, southwestern-inspired specials, and last but certainly not least, delicious coffee. Give their Chorizo Sandwich a try—it is prepared on an English muffin with chipotle aioli sauce. If you plan to visit soon, check out a favorite summer special, the Watermelon Mimosas!
4025 E Chandler Blvd #28, Phoenix, AZ 85048
Organic, vegetarian, and locally sourced are what make this little café special. Pomegranate Café is nestled next to Trader Joe’s just off Chandler Blvd and 40th Street. There are so many healthy options that make eating brunch a fun experience (and you will not regret it later!). The menu includes options for almost everyone with a dietary restriction–gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and soy-free, so there is no guessing game! You might want to try the Banana Bread French Toast with coconut milk whipped cream. Brunch is served weekdays through 11am, Saturdays through 2pm, and Sundays all day! They also have a fully functioning coffee bar with excellent espresso drinks. The juices are delicious too. Stop by for your morning coffee or Sunday brunch sometime soon!
Cupz N’ Crepes
4232 E Chandler Blvd #8, Phoenix, AZ 85048
The second you walk through the door of Cupz N’ Crepes you are hit with the smell of freshly roasted coffee and sweet, sweet crepes. Cupz N’ Crepes is the perfect spot to meet up with some friends or to simply sit down and enjoy the Wi-Fi. This cute café in the middle of the desert is filled with little touches of Paris. There are plenty of tables where you can sit and enjoy your brunch. Along with an extensive crepe menu, there is also a delicious assortment of lattes and other espresso drinks. As far as savory crepes go, try the Chicken Supreme. If you would like to go the sweeter route, check out “The Elvis” or any of the Nutella options. Cupz N’ Crepes is a great, inexpensive option for brunch in Ahwatukee.
Local tip: If you are dining with only one other person, order one savory, and one sweet crepe to split. This way you get to try a little bit of both!
